CONTROLS

  • WSAD to move
  • X to fly
  • Spacebar to talk

Also, the game should be about 3 minutes long.

REGRETS AND BUGS

  • The hawk inside the bush has multiple dialogues (sorry if you got stuck here). It was meant to be like those NPCs you have to talk multiple times, but now I feel like that only works for long games like Silksong.
  • So there are a few bugs, including one that breaks the game (I call it "talking while flying"). It's a bug caused by a badly designed system of player states.
  • The other bug is related to collisions (in concave corners). I decided I wasn't going to spend hours trying to come up with a perfect collision system.
  • The hitbox of the lapwing is too small. Again, this is my fault for making a terrible hitbox system (I'd need to change the hitbox of 9 individual sprites)

FINAL STATEMENT

  • Overall I had quite a good time with this. I have never done pixel arts before, so figuring out how pixel arts worked was a challenge.
  • I feel like I have done almost everything I wanted to do: a simple game of a lapwing (Vanellus chilensis) interacting with hawks (Parabuteo unicinctus).
